Peaceful Hurricanes and Chaotic Stillness

Some days things “just” happen. Good and bad, big and small, important and not so much.. Some days one minute we laugh and cannot contain our joy in our physical bodies and another we feel below the sea level. On such days peacefulness is threatened by the most hazardous chaos and emotional hurricanes elevate to never before seen (and probably felt) levels. I am sure you have gone through this a significant number of times.

I would like to share my observations what works when hurricanes take over and chaotic stillness becomes annoying. I will share only 3 very simple possible steps you can take (there are so many more of them!) to change the situation. Start with these 3 steps as, I believe, they are the foundation of all the other ones that are in between:

1. Calm down. It might sound a little bit way too simple but stop doing whatever you are doing, put aside everything, walk away from your computer and find a peaceful place where you can come back to your body and your peaceful mind. One of the possible things to do is to make yourself a cup of tea and while drinking it concentrate and think only about the tea, the smell, the flavor, observe the color and texture of it. Let it be all about the cup of tea. Let all the thoughts and worries slide away. Find something what you enjoy and what takes 2-5 minutes out of your busy day. Enjoy the moment and observe every millisecond  of your peaceful return to pure happiness filled Earth. Try this!

2. Remember and decide what is important to you, deep in your heart, not in your brain. There are days when too many things happen at the same time and we lose a grip of what is important to us and what our priorities are. Don’t take the path that puts everybody’s responsibilities and faults on you. After step 1 you should have a pretty clear understanding and be in a peaceful and balanced state of mind when things can be seen in their true color. Decide and carefully choose what is important (in your heart, NOT your brain) to you and what you can do in this particular moment to put the situation back on track. It might be hard to make a choice in the beginning and decide what really matters. It should become easier in time and with practice. Your brain and ego will be giving you many various explanations and suggestions, which you should mute. Very seriously, brain rationalizes ridiculously too much and ego puts its importance first. Let your ego or your brain choose/decide and you will end up at the same place where you started..

3. Concentrate on positive. Don’t give false beliefs any credibility and validity. Self-fulfilling prophesies come from fear or logical confusion and they ultimately fulfill. You will get what you most fear and what you put most energy into.  Don’t let any side thoughts get on your way. Imagine and feel the pleasant rewarding feeling when important to you things fall back to their places and you are back to the happy day mode. Positivity not only will encourage you to change an flip things over but also will boost your confidence and you will encounter a significantly smaller number of failures.

These are the 3 basic steps to put things back on track. Practice them consciously and don’t give up if you don’t succeed first. They are still an effort to me, especially in challenging situations. Remember, you are wonderful, you are capable, you are strong, you can and concentrate on the positive. You are so worth of good things to happen to you. And as Brene Brown would say, “remember, that you are imperfect, and you are wired for struggle, but you are worthy of love and belonging” (and all of other positive and good things!).
